Dumfries & Galloway Fine Arts Society was formed over 85 years ago and currently has more than 300 members from all walks of life and at all stages of painting from professional painters to enthusiastic beginners. The Society's aim is to promote Fine Arts and Crafts and to encourage the practice and appreciation of drawing, painting and associated artistic crafts. All new members are welcome, whether they are professional or amateur or non painters who appreciate the arts and crafts and wish to participate in the programme of Winter lectures and demonstrations. All members are invited to submit original works for selection at the annual Summer Exhibition and all invited to the Preview Evening where light refreshments are served. In addition, the Society runs summer workshops run by local professional artists. These are usually day classes, they are very popular and are a good way of getting to know other members. Members are welcome to submit articles for the bi-annual magazine which is sent out in Spring and Autumn.
